A collection of 385 ancient palm-leaf manuscripts belonging to the Ratmalana Parama Dhamma Chethiya Maha Pirivena was conserved with the full financial sponsorship of the Bauddhaloka Foundation and the technical assistance of the National Library and Documentation Services Board, and subsequently handed back to the temple.
The ceremonial handover was held on the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day, 30 May 2026, at the Ratmalana Parama Dhamma Chethiya Maha Pirivena. The programme was conducted under the leadership of the Chief Incumbent and Director of the Pirivena, the Most Venerable Dr. Maitipe Vimalasara Nayaka Thera.
Among those in attendance were W. Sunil, Director General of the National Library and Documentation Services Board; Dr Udaya Cabral, Deputy Director; Perakum Shantha, Mayor of the Dehiwala–Mount Lavinia Municipal Council; Emeritus Professor Praneeth Abeysundara, Vice President of the Bauddhaloka Foundation; Vageesha Dedigama, Directress and Treasurer of the Bauddhaloka Foundation; Panini Wewela, Secretary of the Foundation; together with a large gathering of guests and devotees.
The event marked the successful completion of the conservation project and the formal return of the manuscripts to the Ratmalana Parama Dhamma Chethiya Maha Pirivena.
