මුලතිවු දිස්ත්රික්කයේ පිහිටි ඓතිහාසික කුරුන්දි බෞද්ධ විහාරස්ථානය මෑත කාලයේ ශ්රී ලංකාවේ වඩාත්ම කතා බහට සහ අවධානයට ලක් වූ පෞරාණික බෞද්ධ සිද්ධස්ථාන වලින් එකකි.ඓතිහාසික වශයෙන් මෙන්ම ආගමික වශයෙන්ද අතිශයින්ම වැදගත් වූ කුරුන්දි විහාරය, කුරුන්දි අටුවාව රචනා කරන ලද ස්ථානය ලෙසට හඳුනා ගෙන ඇත. එසේම, මෙම ස්ථානය උතුරු ලක්දිව පිහිටි විශාලම බෞද්ධ ආරාමයන් අතුරෙන් ප්රධාන ස්ථානය ගනී. සිංහල බසින් රචින මෙම කුඩා පර්යේෂණ ග්රන්ථය, කුරුන්දි විහාරස්ථානයේ සහ ඒ අවට භෞතික පරිසරය, ඉතිහාසය, සහ පුරාවිද්යාත්මක පසුබිම මැනවින් විස්තර කරන්නේය. පුරාවිද්යා ගවේෂණ සහ කැණීම් තුලින් සොයා ගත් බුද්ධ ප්රතිමා, බෝධිසත්ත්ව ප්රතිමා, ප්රතිමාඝර, බෝධිඝර, සෙල්ලිපි, පොකුණු යනාදිය ගැන විස්තර අඩංගු වේ.එසේම කුරුන්දි විහාරස්ථානය මූලික කරගෙන ඇති වුණු දේශපාලන අර්බුද පිළිබඳවත් මේ ග්රන්ථයේ විස්තර ඉදිරිපත් කෙරේ.

The ancient Kurundi Buddhist monastery in the Mullaitivu district is one of the most talked about and noticed ancient Buddhist shrines in Sri Lanka in recent times.The Kurundi monastery, which is of great historical and religious importance, is identified as the place where the historical Kurundi Commentary was composed. It is also one of the largest Buddhist monasteries in northern Sri Lanka.This small research book, written in Sinhala and translated to English and Tamil, describes the physical environment, history, and archaeological background of the Kurundi monastery and its surroundings. It contains details about the Buddha statues, Bodhisattva statues, Pratimagharas, Bodhigaras, inscriptions, ponds, etc. discovered through archaeological explorations and excavations.
This book also provides details about the political crises that arose around the Kurundi monastery.
