The preservation and return to the temple of 268 ancient palm leaf books belonging to the Shailabimbarama Mula Maha Viharaya, Dodanduwa, Galle, with the full financial support of the Bauddhaloka Foundation and the technical assistance of the National Library and Documentation Services Board, was carried out the Mahanayake of the Amarapura Sri Kalyaniwansa Chapter, Venerable Dr. Devinuwara Siri Sunanda Maha Thero, the Anunayake and retired Parivenadhipathi of that chapter, Sastrapti Venerable Hikkaduwe Thilaka Anunayake, and the Headmaster and Parivenadhipathi of that chapter, Venerable Devram Vehera Medhalankara Thero, and the Director General of the National Library and Documentation Services Board, W. Sunil and the Honorable Chairman of the Bauddhaloka Foundation, Jagath Sumathipala, were present at the historic Shailabimbarama Mula Maha Viharaya, Dodanduwa, Galle on 27th August 2025.
Here, the book “Dodanduwa Shailabimbarama Mula Maha Viharaya”, which contains the catalogue of preserved palm leaf books and the scholarly documents of that temple, was presented to the Maha Sangha the Honorable Chairman of the Bauddhaloka Foundation, Jagath Sumathipala, and a message of gratitude was presented the Chief Incumbent of the Viharaya to the Honorable Chairman of the Bauddhaloka Foundation, Jagath Sumathipala.
